I am a Brooklyn-based independent creative director and designer focused on branding and user experience.
My design is intensely meaning-driven. I relish finding solutions that have so naturally sprung from their circumstances that they seem inevitable. I confess to an obsession with typography, the only force that can truly bind form and content.
Alliance Graphique Internationale
I graduated from RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), where I studied with Malcolm Grear and Krzysztof Lenk. At the beginning of my career, I had the good fortune to work with Tom Geismar (at Chermayeff & Geismar) and Paul Rand.
Learning directly from these masters played a major role in my development as a designer. I built on those experiences, first by running a boutique design studio, and subsequently by working as Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather Brand Integration Group. I have taught Design and Typography at SVA (School of Visual Arts), and, prior to opening my independent practice, did a stint in furniture design, which gave me invaluable insight into the mindset of people who are engaged in making real products.
My clients range from boutique to multi-national brands, and I particularly enjoy the energy and agility of the start-up culture.
